The Salaam Experience |
|
In order to successfully influence cultural cooperation and mutual understanding between the US and the Arab World, the Salaam Program partners with a diverse cross-section of organizations who can influence these issues. Major partnership opportunities include the following: multinational corporations, NGOs, Small and Medium Enterprises, organizations promoting US-Arab cooperation, and government entities. This is their Salaam Experience...
AMIDEAST/Tunisia has had the privilege of being an active collaborator and supporter of AIESEC since 2002 when the leaders of AIESEC/Tunisia. Since the first meeting, it was apparent the missions of the two organizations are very similar, i.e. to improve understanding and build bridges of understanding. AMIDEAST/Tunisia hosted its first AIESEC interns in the summer of 2003. Our Salaam Interns proved to be extremely helpful with all aspects of AMIDEAST's services: Advising, Testing, English Language Teaching, Exchange Programs, Administration and Finance, etc. Their enthusiasm and flexibility was appreciated by all the staff and teachers of AMIDEAST, as well as many clients. AMIDEAST/Tunisia has hosted over 10 AIESEC interns since the summer of 2003, and we look forward to hosting at least two every two months for the foreseeable future. AIESEC has proven to be the best way to get young university age American students for 3-12 month internships. Each intern has contributed a great deal during their internship, and they have all left with a much more realistic understanding of what it is like to live and work in the Arab Muslim world. I encourage the heads of any companies and organizations in the MENA region to seriously consider hosting an AIESEC intern. You most certainly will not regret the experience!H. L. "Lee" Jennings-Country Director, AMIDEAST/Tunisia
It has been a great pleasure for Amal Salé Association to receive Salam program. Salam program was really a successful program, and because of it we can say that the majority of our members know more now about the American people .Moreover, your trainees and our members could understand each other and leave in peace for a period of time. Youssef Cheffoui, President of Amal Salé Association - Rabat, Morocco
We participated in Salaam Program this summer because we realized that diversity enriches our workplace. It is beneficial for our employees to get to know and work with people from other cultures. It was particularly beneficial for Arab interns given the Arab population that exists in Dearborn in creating cultural bridges for our city. The interns brought their energy and their unique perspectives to their work. It was great to see how readily they adapted to our environment. It was obvious that the caliber of student associated with the program is high. They were self-motivated and helped us accomplish things that might not otherwise have been possible with our limited staffing. It's a great opportunity to expand the cultural awareness of your workplace, and provide an opportunity for a unique international partnership. Valarie Murphy-Goodrich, City of Dearborn - Michigan |
